BIO

Hannah Fox is a professional practising artist based in Naarm (Melbourne), whose work is grounded in abstract painting.

A graduate of Monash University’s Bachelor of Fine Art, Fox has built a sustained exhibition practice over two decades, presenting solo and group exhibitions across Australia and internationally. Her work has been recognised through repeated selection as a finalist in major Australian art prizes, and is held in private collections across Australia, the United States, Europe, and Asia. She also undertakes regular commissions for public and private clients.

Fox has been selected for multiple artist residencies, including the prestigious Palazzo Monti Artist Residency in Brescia, Italy, where she developed a significant body of work that culminated in her solo exhibition Città.Terra. Her practice extends beyond the traditional gallery context through collaborations with international fashion designers and Australian winemakers, allowing her paintings to intersect with design, branding, and material culture.

Alongside her studio practice, Fox is an active contributor to the arts and design community. She has participated in Melbourne Design Week programs, has been invited to speak and participate in panel discussions, including at Semi-Permanent Auckland, and has served as a judge for curated art shows and prizes. Through these roles, she regularly shares insight into her practice, creative process, and the broader cultural context of contemporary painting.

Fox’s studio, work, and exhibitions have been widely featured in Australian art, design, and lifestyle media, including The Sunday Age, Art Guide Australia, Design Anthology, The Design Files, Broadsheet, The Financial Review, Walkers Journal and Art Edit, among others. Fox’s work extends into screen-based contexts, appearing on television and film sets in Australia and internationally, including productions such as Offspring and Atlanta.

Her abstract paintings investigate colour, light, landscape, and place, drawing on lived experience and an ongoing engagement with environment, memory, and spatial perception.
